Darling love of my life
It’s Easter Sunday. April 22nd.
The most horrific thing has happened today. Across the other side of the world. There have been mass bombings across Sri Lanka. The victims include worshippers in packed churches in the heart of the minority Christian community in the cities of Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa and also big luxury hotels in Colombo. There are 250 dead.
There are so many heart-wrenching stories coming out. One of the most high-profile stories is about a family: the Povlsens. The dad happens to be a billionaire who started the company ASOS. This man and his wife were on holiday there and he found out that 3 of his 4 children had been killed in the hotel blast. A suicide bomber had apparently detonated his bomb during the breakfast buffet. When I read that he’d lost 3 of his children in such a terrible way my heart was in my mouth. I felt physical pain for him and his wife. My God, what sadness life brings no matter creed, colour or wealth.
I feel such a welling-up of immense sadness for the Povlsens particularly as the father is constantly described on social media as ‘billionaire.. wealthy businessman etc. and when I read that I thought what a poor man he really is. I mean, don’t get me wrong, wealth gives people many material things but the most important things just cannot be bought. Some things are just not for sale.
If we truly give love and receive it, well that makes our souls rich beyond imagining. Forever.
I am changed forever.
I loved you with all of my might.
I hope that the Povlsens find their way through this and are gently shown the way.
Love you always
Your wifey bo Xxx
